Biography
Amanda Grace (Tigner) Sikarskie is a third-year doctoral student in American Studies and Museum Studies. Her research is particularly focused on historic American textiles. She is currently a research assistant at the Quilt Index, and her dissertation will be on American quilts, maybe whitework specifically.
Amanda is also a CASTL Fellow in the Residential College in the Arts and Humanities, where she is working with a new creative workshop on the fabric arts. She is also serving a three year term on the Michigan State University Museum’s Associates Board. In the past, Amanda has served as a teaching assistant for various courses in the College of Arts and Letters, including history of art, IAH, and WRAC. She has also contributed to City Pulse, developed public workshops for the MSU Museum, served as a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow in Japanese through the MSU Asian Studies Center, and served as both vice-president and secretary of the ASGSA.
When not involved with these various pursuits, Amanda loves traveling in northern Michigan, feeding squirrels, vegetable gardening, listening to the Talking Heads, finding great microbreweries, and spending time with her husband Matt and their three cats.
