Biography

Purdom Lindblad is a second year Program in American Studies master’s student at Michigan State University. For the past eight months, Purdom has been an exchange student at Doshisha University in Kyoto, Japan where she is studying religion and radicalism. During the remaining portion of her time in Japan, Purdom will be completing her coursework and thesis.

Purdom’s main areas of interest are religion, radicalism, and literature. Interested in the ways religious ideas inform political action and the myriad ways belief systems radically depart from established traditions, Purdom pursues new questions religious radicals spark about the nature of religious practice in an increasingly secular world. Many of these questions dramatically challenge establishment, globalization, and industrialization.
