Biography
Kyra Glass von der Osten is a second year Masters student at Michigan State University. She obtained her BA in Cinema Studies from Oberlin College in 2005. Her primary areas of research interest focus on the depiction of cultural and political issues in popular film, television, and video games. She is currently particularly interested in changing depictions of the family, religion, and the 1950s in these medias. This year she will be doing her Masters Thesis on Big Love, polygamy and the question of the "queer" family.
Kyra Glass von der Osten has presented at the 2007 and 2008 Popular Culture Association Conference, the 2007 MPCA/ACA Conference, and the 2008 Midwest American Academy of Religion Conference on a variety of topics regarding film, television and interactive media.
